28th Regimes and Codification

04.04.2025

Towards Clear, Accessible and Concise - European Business Law Conference on 4 April 2024 in Vienna

Outline
The future of the European Union is currently debated. One focal point is the European Business Code (EBC), which has been drafted by a number of academics, judges and practitioners from different Member States over the course of five years. Apart from making EU law more structured, intelligible and accessible, it contains a number of new ‘28th regimes’, such as a proposal for a European Limited Company, a Euro Loan, a Euro Derivative or a Euro Mortgage. Ursula von der Leyen, Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta have all recently referred to 28th regimes as an important tool to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the Single Market. To discuss the 28th regimes, in particular those included in the EBC, and present them to the public, this conference brings together authors of the Code with important political players.
